— LAKE NAKURU —

OVERVIEW

Lake Nakuru National Park, located in central Kenya, is famous for its stunning lake and the vibrant wildlife that surrounds it. The park is centered around Lake Nakuru, a shallow, alkaline lake that attracts vast flocks of flamingos, particularly during the wet season, creating a striking pink spectacle along the shore. The park is also home to a variety of other bird species, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.

Beyond its avian population, Lake Nakuru is known for its diverse wildlife, including both black and white rhinos, lions, giraffes, zebras, and warthogs. The park is a sanctuary for endangered species like the rhino, and conservation efforts have been particularly focused on protecting these animals.

The park’s landscapes are diverse, ranging from the lakeshore to rocky outcrops, lush woodlands, and savannah, offering a variety of habitats for wildlife. It’s relatively small in size but provides excellent opportunities for game drives and is considered a gem for those seeking both birdwatching and traditional safari experiences in a picturesque setting.
