— MAASAI MARA —

OVERVIEW

The Maasai Mara National Reserve, located in southwestern Kenya, is one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. It's renowned for its incredible biodiversity, especially its role in the annual Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move between the Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti. This migration is one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet, drawing visitors from all over the world.

The reserve is named after the Maasai people, who have lived in the area for centuries, and it forms part of the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. In addition to the migration, the Mara is home to the "Big Five" (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo), along with cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, and a wide variety of bird species.

The Maasai Mara's vast, open savannah plains are perfect for game drives, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings, particularly predators like lions and cheetahs. The park also boasts stunning landscapes, including the Mara River, which is often the setting for dramatic river crossings during the migration. It’s one of Kenya’s most popular safari destinations, known for its natural beauty, cultural significance, and exceptional wildlife experiences.
